PlayStation photo: This shows Sony’s hegemonic rule over my life. I have collected these systems over ten years. The original PlayStation was released in 1995, the PlayStation 2 was released in 2000, and the PlayStation 3 was released in 2006. This shows that Sony has successfully marketed their products in America, despite Sony being a Japanese company. Japanese media has permeated the American market in a huge way, especially in the field of electronics.

Me at the Warriors game: This indicates that people are hailed by the success of the Golden State Warriors that year (2006-07 season). Charles Barkley called the Warriors “midgets” in the last game, so I created this sign as an oppositional code to Barkley’s commentary on TNT. This is an example of Althusser’s theory of interpolation. When the Warriors were not that good, attendance was low, and now that the Warriors were successful, they successfully hailed consumers to that game. (That game I attended was sold out.)

Me in China: This indicates the past Chinese hegemony over the entire country. If it was not for the end of the Cultural Revolution, this structure would have been destroyed. This interpolates the Chinese to remember their history and the culture before the Cultural Revolution.
